Jacqueline, Freelance Writing Expert

Starting the process to hire a freelancer can be a daunting.

Sometimes it feels a little like the Wild West out there and you’re just riding along on your horse with no map and no roads and you’re trying not to get shot.

While there are a ton of sites where you can hire a freelancer, those sites are also filled with a mix of professional freelancers and those who are just willing to make a quick buck without providing quality work.

You need to be aware of the warning signs of unprofessional freelancers so you don’t end up wasting time or money when you’re asking, How do I hire a freelancer?

When you’re a freelancer, your life is built on the hustle and thinking outside of the box. This means you’re always looking to increase your network (which makes attending business conferences or events in your niche super important). So, let’s give you some professional networking tips and effective networking strategies that you can use at your next meeting or conference to open doors for more freelance work.

This list is one of your best ways to network for a job during a conference or event (and is even a great way to learn how to network when you hate networking)!

That tells me you may be looking for a freelance writer, course developer/writer, or maybe even someone with some expertise in healthcare or homeschooling?

Or, maybe you’re looking to better understand how to be a freelancer OR you’re a business that needs to hire professional freelance writers?

If you came here for one (or more!) of those reasons, you’ve come to the right place!

I’ve been freelancing with my own business—writing, developing, and consulting—for over 17 years. . .

. . . in specialized fields like education / academia, technology, healthcare, business, blogging, freelance writing, and even homeschooling.

In 2019 I Had An Epiphany

I’ve worked with entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, and freelance writers.

And, I’ve worked with small and (very) large businesses.

However . . .

Over the past 17 years of freelancing, there are two sentiments that have remained consistent throughout:

1. Businesses feel like they have a hard time finding professional, reliable freelance writers, and

2. Freelance writers feel like they have a hard time finding work from reputable companies willing to pay them their worth.

After I had that WHOA! realization, I decided to also include information on this site to bridge that cavernous gap between the two so that the freelancing process doesn’t, well, suck for either party.

A Little More About Me . . .

I have an interesting background that spans from healthcare to technology (including training, sales, and marketing management) and into education.

As a former corporate trainer and college adjunct professor, I understand the entire process of developing courses, writing the content, all the way into the delivery and assessment process.

All of this together provides a unique viewpoint and comprehensive experience that many clients find helpful and refreshing from a freelance writer.
