I’m Jacqueline Wilson, also known as The Homeschool Super Freak.
Sometime prior to 2011, I broke the news to my husband that I wanted to homeschool our daughter.
It went something like this:
(I mean, I was a college adjunct professor. I’ve got this, right. RIGHT?!)
And so began my journey (which so far has involved laughing, crying, learning, gnashing of teeth, exhaustion, and elation . . . just to name a few).
I’ve been homeschooling for over nine years now, but have been in the education field in some capacity for 17 years.
I write and edit academically — books, study guides, and courses — and have probably written and edited over 50 proprietary books or guides for colleges.
(I’ve actually lost count at this point.)
I was teaching, writing, speaking, and consulting in academic / education fields, so it was a natural inclination to carry that knowledge and experience over into homeschooling.
I created HomeschoolSuperFreak.com to connect with other homeschoolers and share an honest look at homeschooling (the good, the bad, the ugly, the fabulous) and to also provide different resources that will support homeschoolers in their journey.
I wanted the site to be a gathering place for all homeschool parents—no matter belief system, method, style, or where they were in their homeschool journey.
The site and social media quickly grew into a popular homeschooling resource.
In 2017, I also released the book It’s Homeschooling, Not Solitary Confinement: Busting the Myths, Misconceptions, and Misinformation About Homeschooling to rave reviews. It quickly hit #1 bestseller in four bestselling Amazon categories: homeschooling, education theory, non-formal education, and schools & teaching!
